Finals heroics sees Adams win JackJumpers MVP
Star import Josh Adams has been awarded the Tasmania JackJumpers Inaugural Season Most Valuable Player at the club’s end of season Awards gala.
Adams’ spectacular performances throughout the NBL22 Final series saw the guard win the JackJumpers’ major award, ahead of Jack McVeigh and Josh Magette.
McVeigh and Magette were tied for the lead on 132 votes each at the conclusion of the 28-game regular season with Adams five votes behind in third place.
However, Adams’ incredible shot taking and making in the play-offs, which included 30 points in Game 2 of the Semi Final Series against Melbourne United and 36 Points in Game 3 of the Grand Final Series against the Sydney Kings, saw him secure the club’s highest individual honour with 172 votes.
Despite not playing the game 3 of the Grand Final series through illness, Jack McVeigh was runner-up in the MVP count on 167 votes while Point Guard Josh Magette finished in third place with 160 votes.
Captain Clint Steindl and Import MiKyle McIntosh finished in fourth and fifth respectively.
The MVP was voted upon by the four JackJumpers coaches following each of the 34 games played in the 2021/22 Hungry Jack’s NBL Season.
‘Defensive Player of the Year’ was awarded to Matt Kenyon for his tenacity, relentlessness and embodiment of the mantra Defend the Island.
Vice-Captain Jarrad Weeks was voted by his peers to receive the ‘Players Award’ while the ‘Coaches Award’ was awarded to Forward Fabijan Krslovic who became a reliable and consistent starting five player in the latter half of the NBL22 season.
Basketball Operations Coordinator Jack Soward was awarded the inaugural ‘Spirit of the JackJumpers’ Award which recognises a person within the broader JackJumpers family who goes above and beyond their role to positively impact the club, brand and community.
Jack McVeigh was voted as the ‘Fan Favourite’ by the Ant Army via an online poll.
