Former Hawk the White fit to replace Steindl
Tasmania JackJumpers are pleased to announce the signing of guard Isaac White as an injury replacement player ahead of the Hungry Jack’s 2022/23 NBL season.
White has spent the past two NBL seasons with the Illawarra Hawks, where he shot at 40% from the field, after returning from playing in the NCAA with Stanford University.
The 24-year-old is currently averaging 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists per game for Ipswich Force in the NBL1 North.
White will be contracted as an Injury Replacement Player for Captain Clint Steindl who sustained an injury to his left knee while playing for the Australian Boomers in the FIBA Asia Cup in July.
“White is an excellent shooter and will help fill that void while Clint recovers. We believe he can be a valuable offensive asset for us, but he also has a proven defensive mindset and is willing to do the work” Head Coach Scott Roth said.
“He is a fearless competitor and really embodies the JackJumpers’ grit and grind attitude. Isaac also brings play-off experience so we’re looking forward to welcoming him into the group”.
Steindl remained with the Boomers’ squad in Indonesia until the end of the successful campaign, playing an off-court role in Australia’s FIBA Asia Cup victory.
He will now be assessed by the JackJumpers medical specialist team upon returning from Jakarta.
“Thankfully, Clint’s escaped any major structural damage to the knee, however there will be a period of rest and rehabilitation in order to reach full fitness again, and we will work closely with Clint through his rehab program” JackJumpers Head Physiotherapist Ryan Carroll said.
White will arrive in Tasmania this week and begin informal practice before the beginning of JackJumpers preseason on August 15.
