The Tasmania JackJumpers ended 2024 on a high, claiming their eighth consecutive win with a hard-fought 95-86 victory over the Brisbane Bullets at MyState Bank Arena. Tasmania showcased their resilience and teamwork, maintaining control throughout and fending off a late Brisbane surge to solidify their position in the top four.

Tasmania set the tone early with an aggressive approach on the boards, securing 17 offensive rebounds that translated to 16 second-chance points. Their defense was equally impactful, limiting Brisbane’s rhythm and holding them to just two made field goals in a decisive third quarter.

Milton Doyle led the charge for the JackJumpers with 23 points, five rebounds, and three assists, while Anthony Drmic contributed 19 points, including key three-pointers in the final stretch. Majok Deng added 16 points, and Jordon Crawford orchestrated the offense with 13 points and eight assists.

Reflecting on the win, coach Scott Roth expressed his satisfaction with the team's effort.

“My group’s had three games in about seven days starting with United and then the Christmas game, so I’m really happy to get through this stretch,” he said. “We still have areas that are concerning, but overall I just think we have different guys stepping up and we’re system-oriented. It’s not always pretty, but I’m obviously quite happy to get across the line.”

The JackJumpers built a 52-44 halftime lead thanks to strong rebounding and sharp shooting, particularly from deep, where Doyle and Crawford were instrumental. They extended their lead to 15 in the third quarter, capitalizing on Brisbane’s struggles to convert inside despite a strong showing from Tyrell Harrison, who finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Brisbane rallied in the fourth quarter, narrowing the gap to six points with just under three minutes remaining. However, Tasmania’s composure under pressure and timely scoring, including clutch shots from Drmic, ensured the victory.

With an 11-8 record, the JackJumpers continue their impressive run and will next host South East Melbourne Phoenix on Sunday.
