The Tasmania JackJumpers are thrilled to announce that Ryan Carroll, the team’s Head Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist, will be traveling with the Boomers as part of their support staff for the Paris 2024 Olympics. This prestigious appointment underscores Carroll’s exceptional skills and dedication to sports physiotherapy, marking a significant milestone in his career and bringing honour to the JackJumpers and Tasmania.

Carroll’s role with the Boomers represents a vital contribution to the health and performance of the players. His close relationship with JackJumpers’ stars Will Magnay and Jack McVeigh, both selected to join the Boomers, highlights the seamless integration of high-level care and trust between the club and the national team.

Reflecting on this opportunity, Carroll shared, “Joining the Boomers for the Olympics is a dream come true. From watching the Olympics as a kid to now supporting our national team on the world stage, it’s an incredible honour. Working with Will and Jack, who have both shown immense growth and resilience, makes this experience even more rewarding.”

Carroll’s journey to this point has been marked by dedication and excellence. Starting his career in Devonport, he worked with the Devonport Warriors in the NWBU and the NW Tasmania Thunder in the NBL1 South, steadily advancing through the ranks. He has made significant contributions to basketball in Tasmania and beyond. His involvement with the Boomers began five years ago, with notable stints at the World Cups in 2019 and 2023. Now, heading to his first Olympics, Carroll’s expertise will be invaluable in ensuring the players are in peak condition.

Will Magnay and Jack McVeigh’s selection for the Boomers is a testament to their hard work and Carroll’s support. Carroll remarked, “Both Will and Jack have worked incredibly hard to reach this point. It’s been a privilege to support them through their challenges and achievements. Seeing them perform on the international stage will be a proud moment for all of us.”

This achievement not only elevates Carroll’s career but also shines a spotlight on the JackJumpers and Tasmania. General Manager Mika Vukona expressed his pride, stating, “Ryan’s inclusion in the Boomers Olympic team is a significant achievement for the JackJumpers and Tasmania. It exemplifies our commitment to excellence and the high standards of our support staff. We are incredibly proud of Ryan and look forward to seeing the impact he will have in Paris.”

CEO Christine Finnegan added, “Ryan’s dedication and professionalism have been instrumental to the JackJumpers success. His role with the Boomers is a well-deserved recognition of his hard work. We wish him and our players, Will and Jack, all the best at the Olympics.”

As the JackJumpers continue to build on their successes, Ryan Carroll’s journey with the Boomers stands as a beacon of excellence and inspiration. This milestone not only highlights the strength of the JackJumpers program but also the vibrant and supportive basketball community in Tasmania.
