JackJumpers Secure Fifth Straight Victory with Commanding Performance
The Tasmania JackJumpers extended their winning streak to five games with a commanding 100-76 victory over the New Zealand Breakers at EventFinda Stadium. From the opening tip, Tasmania imposed their will, racing to an 11-4 lead and never looking back.
The Breakers, looking to snap a four-game losing streak, leaned on Tacko Fall early, with the towering center providing 16 points and four rebounds in just 18 minutes. However, New Zealand struggled to find rhythm beyond the arc, shooting just 4/29 (13%) from three-point range, which left them unable to match the JackJumpers' relentless pressure.
Jordon Crawford was electric off the bench for Tasmania, delivering 24 points and four assists, including a blistering 22-point first half. Sean Macdonald added 17 points with sharp shooting from deep, while Craig Sword and Milton Doyle combined for 23 points and nine assists.
Head coach Scott Roth credited the team’s consistency and collective effort, saying, "It's about the players buying into the system and believing in what we do. The hard work and daily grind are starting to pay off, but we're far from a finished product." Roth also emphasized the importance of teamwork, adding, "I get excited when I see these guys doing the work and getting rewarded for it."
Defensively, the JackJumpers' intensity forced 13 Breakers turnovers, leading to 20 points, while their dominance on the boards (40-33) and second-chance opportunities proved decisive. Will Magnay showcased his all-around game with six points, eight assists, six rebounds, and a block, anchoring Tasmania’s effort in the paint.
New Zealand showed flashes of fight, with Matt Mooney contributing 13 points and Parker Jackson-Cartwright adding 11, but they couldn’t close the gap as Tasmania’s composure and execution carried them to a resounding win.
The JackJumpers, now 8-8, continue to gather momentum heading into their December 23 matchup against Melbourne United.
