JackJumpers Secure Kingborough as the Location for New High-Performance Centre
The Tasmania JackJumpers are thrilled to announce the establishment of their new High-Performance Centre at Kingston View Drive, adjacent to the Kingborough Sports Centre. This state-of-the-art facility, spanning approximately 5,500 square metres, will become the heart of the JackJumpers’ operations, serving as the home of the entire Club and the coveted 23/24 NBL Trophy.
CEO of the Tasmania JackJumpers, Christine Finnegan, expressed the Club’s enthusiasm for this significant milestone. “The JackJumpers are excited to secure this site as the future home of our High-Performance Centre. This facility will not only meet the high standards of our team’s training needs but will also establish us as a destination club, committed to continuing our mission to Defend the Island.”
The JackJumpers have worked closely with the Tasmanian Government and the Kingborough Council to bring this vision to life, ensuring that the centre will benefit both the club and the local community. Christine Finnegan added, “We extend our gratitude to the Tasmanian Government and the Kingborough Council for their unwavering support and collaboration in making this announcement a reality. This centre will greatly contribute to the local community, providing development pathways for young players and enhancing the broader Kingborough Sports Precinct as a premier hub for sport and recreation in the state.”
The Minister for Sport and Events, Nic Street, acknowledged the importance of this project within the government’s broader infrastructure goals. “The new High-Performance Centre aligns with our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, turning the Kingborough Sports Precinct into a central recreational hub for the entire State,” Minister Street said.
Kingborough Council Mayor Paula Wriedt echoed the community’s support for the JackJumpers. “Our community has warmly embraced the JackJumpers, and this new High-Performance Centre near Kingston High School will create further opportunities for our young basketball community while solidifying Kingborough as a leading hub for sport and recreation.”
