McVeigh here to stay with new 2-year deal
The JackJumpers are delighted to announce the ‘smiling assassin’ Jack McVeigh has inked a new two-year contract to remain in Tasmania until at least the 2024/25 season.
“I’ve absolutely loved my time in Tasmania, it really does feel like home. I feel like I can be my true self here and play my best basketball” McVeigh said.
McVeigh announced the good news to the passionate crowd at MyState Bank Arena following the JackJumpers’ emphatic 103-72 win over NBL powerhouse Perth Wildcats on Saturday, where McVeigh shot 17 points in the JackJumpers biggest ever points total.
“To have 5,000 chanting your name is just crazy, it was like an out of body experience. I love the people here, it’s an incredible feeling to have so many people have your back”.
“It’s just a fun place to come to work every day with the staff and players we have. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else” McVeigh said.
McVeigh is finding career-best form, having returned from a shoulder injury he sustained during his time with the Boomers squad for the FIBA World Cup qualifiers.
The 26-year-old was awarded the NBL Blitz MVP, being the only player in the League to poll votes in all three preseason games.
“Jack exemplifies everything we want in players who pull on our jersey – authentic, humble and always hungry to improve himself and those around him” CEO Simon Brookhouse said.
“We couldn’t be happier to have Jack on board for the next two seasons and continue to build a strong culture and foundation of this club”.
