Jack McVeigh Overview

This was a notable year for Jack reaching several millstones as a player within the league, he played his 150th NBL game in the opening round against Perth and then became the first JackJumpers player to reach 100 club games reaching the milestone in game 3 of the Championship Series. He also surpassed the 1000 points for the club in Game 9 against Brisbane becoming the first player to reach the milestone for the JackJumpers. Jack is leading the JackJumpers in both points and rebounds.
This season also saw Jack McVeigh make the all-NBL second team, win the finals MVP, and won the JackJumpers club MVP.

 

Jack McVeigh Statistics

Jack McVeigh started every game for the season playing and starting in all 37 games. Playing the second most minutes for the season averaging 30.27 minutes per game, he was the highest point averaging JackJumper on the season with an average of 17.30 points per game, while also pulling down an average of 5.86rebounds, 1.70 assists, 0.46 steals, and 0.35 blocks.

Jacks highest scoring game for the regular season was 26 points which he scored in Game 26 against Adelaide in a win at MyState Bank Arena which saw the JackJumpers come away 23 point victors.
Jacks highest rebounding game for the regular season was in Game 28 against Perth for our Teal game where Jack pulled down 10 rebounds in what was also his first double double for the club.

Jacks highest assist total for the season was 5 assists which he scored in the opening round of the season against Perth and again against Illawarra in Game 17, then for a third time against New Zealand in game 19.
Jacks highest steal total for the year came against Brisbane in game 9 where he recorded 2 steals.
Jacks Highest total blocks for the year came against Cairns in game 20 where he recorded 2 blocks.

Jack McVeigh Notable Regular Season Games

Jack had many major games through the course of the season but one of the standouts was the overtime win against Cairns Taipans Jack lead our scoring efforts with 24 points, but the night was topped off by what would be the first of multiple buzzer beaters Jack would hit throughout the season to seal the win in overtime.
Jack started the game quietly only scoring a pair of free throws in the opening quarter, before exploding in the second as he subbed in and immediately hit a 3 pointer. He then got an offensive rebound and was able to go back up to get another 2 points off a layup, before point the same thing a second time for the quarter recording 2 offensive rebounds in the quarter and 9 points.
He opened the third the same way he finished the second scoring a floater early and getting fouled in the process where he converted from the line. He hit another 2 pointer and a 3 pointer in the quarter.
He hit a layup in the fourth quarter which helped tie the scores up at the end of regulation.
On the final inbound Jack passed the ball to Mags who brought the ball slightly further up the court before passing back to Jack, who steadied himself from the logo and hit the shot as the time expired putting the JackJumpers up by 3 points.


In a game where Jack and Jordon were the two prolific scorers in the game against the Sydney Kings. With Jack leading scorers with 23 points and leading the team in rebounds pulling down 7 himself. Jack started his scoring early with a layup he scored in early and followed up with an offensive rebound which led to another score on the next possession. Jack then followed by hitting a pair of 3’s with the second being a four-point play as he got fouled on the shot. Jack was able to close out the game with 12 points in the 4th quarter in what ended as an 8-point loss but showed the scoring prowess that Jack was able to display.

As the regular season came to an end and the JackJumpers were looking to secure their finals spot while the Adelaide 36ers were trying to scrape in with their season on the line. This was a solid overall performance from all the JackJumpers, but Jack was a standout leading the scoring with 26 points on 6% shooting from the field.
Jack started the game with a 2-point layup which he got fouled on and was able to then convert from the line. Jack then followed the next possession down the floor with another 2-point layup. He hit another layup before bringing his opponent out to the 3-point line and draining the shot to give the JackJumpers the lead.
Jack started the second quarter much the same as he started the first with another 2-point layup, before hitting a free throw.
Jack came out in the third and scored 10 points with 5 of them coming within the first minute of the period. Jack hit one more 3 in the last before resting the end of the game as the JackJumpers finished the game with a 23-point lead.

 

Jack McVeigh During the Finals

Jack opened his finals campaign against the Illawarra hawks where he led the way with 26 points on 69% shooting. He also recorded 11 rebounds bringing up his first career double double. This game showed the energy that Jack McVeigh and Will Magnay can bring into MyState bank arena as they hyped the crowd.

 

When we came back to Tasmania to take on Perth in game 2 of the play-in series Jack was an instrumental piece of the series turning in the JackJumpers favour. He started with 5 points in the first quarter. Followed by 8 points in the second quarter. Jack continued his steady effort by putting up another 5 points in the third quarter, he finished with another 4 points in the last quarter as the JackJumpers finished as 8-point victors.

 

Game 3 of the Play In series Jack led the way once again starting off with scoring 4 points in the first. He opened the second quarter by hitting a 3 pointer, then continued the scoring efforts with a fade away 2-pointer shortly after in the quarter. He hit a pair of free throws before hitting another 3-pointer to finish off a strong second quarter and bringing the JackJumpers to a 9-point lead which we would carry through for the rest of the game. He continued the scoring in the 3rd with a driving layup which he got fouled on and converted from the line. 2 possessions later Jack hit a 3 pointer to help bring the lead out to 13 points. He finished out the game scoring a further 7 points and leading the way with a total of 27 points for the game.


Game 3 of the championship series was a tight fought match through the contest which saw Melbourne United getting out to an early lead. Jack managed to hit a 3 pointer in the first quarter and then another 2 pointers in the second quarter. He came out after half time and scored 8 points for the term bringing the deficit to just 7 points.
The last quarter turned into the Majok Deng show as he scored 15 points in the quarter, as time was running out Majok fouled Shea Ili which led to a Matthew Dellavedova inbound pass which was picked off by Milton Doyle, Jack then brought the ball up the court and let a long range 3 pointer fly with just 2 seconds left on the game clock made the shot.

 

Riding the high of the previous game, Jack came out of the gates in game 4 of the championship series a man on a mission scoring 28 points for the game in what would be his highest scoring performance of the season and his NBL Career.
Jack was able to keep scoring down low in the post scoring 18 points in the first half, and forcing the defence to accommodate to his willingness to bring his defender to the basket and forcing free throws going 5-5 from the line for the night.
