Reuben Te Rangi Reaches 350 NBL Games with the Tasmania JackJumpers
The Tasmania JackJumpers are proud to celebrate a remarkable milestone for Reuben Te Rangi, who will take the court for his 350th NBL game this week. Known for his versatility, leadership, and professionalism, Te Rangi’s enduring career is a testament to his dedication and passion for basketball.
Te Rangi’s NBL journey began as a development player with the New Zealand Breakers in the 2012/13 season. By the following year, he was a full roster player, helping the team secure another championship in 2015.
Reflecting on those formative years, Te Rangi said, “My favourite moment of my career was signing my first NBL contract and walking into the locker room. I was surrounded by players I idolized—C.J. Bruton, Mika Vukona, Cedric Jackson, and others. Being in the same room as them was surreal and inspiring.”
After leaving the Breakers, Te Rangi’s career continued to grow. He joined the Brisbane Bullets, where he delivered his best statistical NBL season in 2018/19, earning the titles of Best Sixth Man and Most Improved Player. Stints with the South East Melbourne Phoenix and the Auckland Tuatara in the New Zealand NBL added further accolades to his name, including three New Zealand NBL championships and the 2018 Finals MVP award.
Now with the Tasmania JackJumpers, Te Rangi has become an integral part of the team both on and off the court. Head Coach Scott Roth praised him as “a veteran leader who has fed perfectly into our culture. Reuben’s been a great teammate, a constant professional, and an outstanding presence in our community. Reaching 350 games speaks volumes about his skill and the longevity of his career.” Roth also noted how Te Rangi has embraced his role as a leader and new father, describing him as a wonderful role model in every sense.
The Tasmania JackJumpers are proud to celebrate Te Rangi’s milestone, recognizing his immense contributions to the sport and the community. With his combination of experience and professionalism, Te Rangi continues to inspire his teammates and fans alike.
