State of Play

It’s an NBL22 Championship Series rematch this Sunday at Qudos Bank Arena as the Tasmania JackJumpers take on the Sydney Kings. Tasmania’s focus on slowing the game and grinding out defensive battles contrasts with Sydney’s pace-driven, high-shot offense, setting up a tactical clash.

In their last meeting, Tasmania controlled the game early, but the Kings surged late with Kouat Noi hitting critical threes. Sydney leads the league in assists per game (20.2), moving the ball quickly to create open looks—a style the JackJumpers’ defense will need to disrupt.

A key matchup to watch: how the Kings manage JackJumpers guards Jordon Crawford and Milton Doyle. Last game, Kings defender Bul Kuol focused on Doyle, allowing Crawford to lead with 18 points in the first half. Both guards will be pivotal for Tasmania’s success on Sunday.
