Steindl hits the road for return in Launceston
Tasmania JackJumpers Captain Clint Steindl will make his long-awaited return to the court this Friday when the JackJumpers host the New Zealand Breakers at the Launceston Silverdome.
After getting through the JackJumpers main practice session on Wednesday, Steindl has been cleared to travel to Tasmania’s north and suit up for the Round 8 game.
“It’s great to have Clint back, he’s moving well and his inclusion has really lifted the group this week. He’ll likely be on a lighter playing load but we’ll see how he goes in shoot around and with the flow of the game” Head Coach Scott Roth said.
Steindl has completed his recovery from a leg injury sustained while representing Australia in July, as part of the Boomers victorious FIBA Asia Cup campaign.
“I’m ready to go mentally and physically. This past week has been great for me, I’m moving freely and feel strong and confident. Hopefully I can get out there and trust the work that I’ve done and the medical team have put into me” Steindl said.
Steindl return coincides with news the 33-year-old will remain with the club until at least the 2024/25 season, after inking a new two-year deal.
Marquee centre Will Magnay is very close to returning to the court having returned to full practice.
He will travel with the team and will be reassessed after fitness testing in Launceston to determine whether he will suit up against the Breakers.
