Tasmania JackJumpers Celebrate Jarrad Weeks' Appointment as Head Coach of Hobart Chargers
The Tasmania JackJumpers proudly congratulate Assistant Coach Jarrad Weeks, affectionately known as "Weeksy," on his new role as Head Coach of the Hobart Chargers in the NBL1 South conference. Jarrad has been an integral part of the JackJumpers' journey, first as a player for our inaugural two seasons and then as an assistant coach, bringing passion and expertise to our team.
In his dual role, Weeksy will continue as Assistant Coach with the JackJumpers while leading the Chargers, creating a strong link between the two clubs. This connection offers NBL1 players the unique opportunity to experience leadership from an NBL-level coach and immerse themselves in the “JackJumper way” of player development.
With a distinguished career spanning 254 NBL games across five clubs, including his final seasons as Tasmania’s Vice-Captain, Weeksy brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his coaching. His leadership has already earned him the respect of players, coaches, and staff alike, and we look forward to seeing his impact on the next generation of Tasmanian talent.
Mark Nash, Board Director of NBL1 Hobart Chargers, shared his enthusiasm for Weeks’ new role, stating, “Weeksy joined the Hobart Chargers men's program as a Special Advisor for the 2024 NBL1 South season and had a very positive impact on the team. Weeksy is a past player at the club, and we are thrilled to announce him as our next men's head coach.”
Darren Smith, COO of the JackJumpers, added, “We are delighted to see Weeksy appointed as the head coach of the Hobart Chargers. The appointment will allow both the JackJumpers and Chargers to have continued alignment, and for both clubs to continue to strengthen basketball at the elite level in the south of the state.”
The JackJumpers are eager to support Weeksy in this next chapter and are excited for what he will bring to both clubs.
