The Tasmania JackJumpers are thrilled to announce the signing of forward Reuben Te Rangi on a one-year contract as a replacement player for the NBL25 season, following the recent departure of Jack McVeigh.

Reuben Te Rangi is an accomplished player with a notable career in the NBL and has played in two NBL championships. Remarkably, he is still yet to turn 30 and is preparing for his 12th season in the league. Te Rangi has spent the past four seasons with the South East Melbourne Phoenix and brings a wealth of experience to the JackJumpers. Te Rangi began his NBL career with the New Zealand Breakers, where he started as a development player in the 2012/13 season and was part of a championship-winning team. He was quickly elevated to a full roster spot the following year and contributed to a second championship win in 2015. Te Rangi then joined the Brisbane Bullets under former Breakers coach Andrej Lemanis for the 2016/17 season. His best season came in 2018/19, when he was named both the NBL’s Best Sixth Man and Most Improved Player, known for his knockdown three-point shooting and outstanding defense.

Te Rangi played four seasons with the Bullets and joined the South East Melbourne Phoenix in the 2020/21 season. In addition to his NBL achievements, Te Rangi has been a regular player and captain of the New Zealand Tall Blacks and has won three championships in the NZ NBL, including being named the 2018 Finals MVP.

Scott Roth, Head Coach, shared his enthusiasm, saying, “Reuben is an incredible addition to our team. His experience and skills on both ends of the court will be invaluable to us as we aim for success in the NBL25 season. We’re keen to see him bring his leadership and talent to Tasmania.”

General Manager Mika Vukona echoed Roth’s statement, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Reuben to the JackJumpers family. His impressive track record and versatility make him a perfect fit for our team. We believe his presence will add experience to our roster, and we look forward to what he will achieve with us this season.”

Reuben Te Rangi will join the JackJumpers as they gear up for the NBL25 season, bringing his extensive career achievements and leadership qualities to the team.
