The Tasmania JackJumpers would like to sincerely thank outgoing Associate Head Coach Jacob Chance following his resignation from the position.

Chance has been an integral member of the JackJumpers coaching staff in the club’s first two seasons, playing a crucial role assisting Head Coach Scott Roth and the high-performance team.

“Jacob has made an enormous contribution in establishing the strong foundations of the club, recruiting and working closely with each player to get the best out of them” Co-CEO Jorrick Chivers said.

“He is greatly respected by all at the JackJumpers, his professionalism and leadership behind the scenes is of the highest level, and we thank him for everything he has done during his time with us”

Chance was instrumental in setting up the JackJumpers’ inaugural program and systems, helping the club reach the post-season in each of the first two years, including the Grand Final series in 2021/22 as well as having wide reaching impact in the Tasmanian community.

The 29-year-old opted not to take up the third year in his contract and will move onto a new opportunity in the NBL for the 2023/24 season.

“While we’re disappointed not to have Jacob in our camp ongoing, we absolutely support his growth and ambition, and he leaves the club with our best wishes for the future”.

Chance has flourished in his role at the JackJumpers and been successful in pursuing positions at a National Level, assisting the Australian Boomers in the World Cup Qualifiers, being appointed Video Analyst for the Boomers’ upcoming FIBA World Cup.

“Jacob has shown he has the potential to be a Head Coach in the future and we look forward to watching his continued development, both professionally and personally, and keeping in touch with Jacob and his partner Bree.

“On behalf of our playing group, coaches, administration, stakeholders, and fans, I extend a huge thank you and good luck to Jacob and Bree. They will always be part of the JackJumpers family” Chivers said.

The JackJumpers will now begin a thorough process to replace Chance.
