Fresh from announcing his retirement from a decorated NBL career, Jarrad Weeks will continue his journey in the League, appointed the JackJumpers’ newest Assistant Coach.

33-year-old Weeks will join Scott Roth’s coaching ranks as an Assistant Coach alongside Mark Radford and Jack Fleming.

“I am so excited to transition into this new role and continue to help my teammates grow and develop into a Championship winning side” Weeks said.

“For the latter part of my career, I’ve considered that coaching at some level would be my next step, so for this opportunity to arise at this stage in my life is perfect.

“My family and I absolutely love this State and this club, and we’re so thrilled to continue our journey with the JackJumpers” he said.

Weeks played 254 NBL games across 5 clubs finishing his career as Vice-Captain of the Tasmania JackJumpers, helping lead the expansion club to post season appearances in its first two seasons.

Co-CEO Jorrick Chivers said retaining Weeks as a key part of the basketball department was exciting for the continued growth of the club.

“Weeksy is highly respected and regarded by the players, coaches, basketball staff and front office administration, we couldn’t think of a better person to help the group and club strive for further success.

“Having that close relationship with the playing group is invaluable and I think he’ll thrive in this role and help get the best out of both the players and the coaching staff” he said.

Weeks is currently playing in the NBL NZ with Auckland Tuatara and will return to Tasmania with wife Michelle and young son Freddie in the coming weeks.

He will officially begin his new role in July ahead of preseason practice for the 2023/24 NBL Season.
